Arteriograph
This very sensitive test is utilized to determine stiffness of the aorta as well as the function of the arteries. Its advantage over current methods, such as electrocardiography, catheterization etc. is that the test takes only 5 minutes , is not invasive and renders data which can usually only obtained from much more complicated instruments. All data are derived from measuring the blood pressure with a conventional cuff on the arm. These data are sent to a laptop which utilizes highly specialized algorithms to calculate aorta stiffness as well as function of the arterial blood vessels. The results are presented in numbers as well as graphs. This measurement is important to judge the effectiveness of blood pressure medication. Also, in almost all cases of the so-called EDTA chelation therapy a significant decrease of aortic stiffness could be observed. Finally, the Arteriograph is also useful to measure the ejection time of the heart, thus rendering information about cardiac function.
